History of CAVC

In 2011 Cardiff and Vale College (CAVC) was created through a merger  between two established and well respected Further Education (FE) colleges, Barry College and Coleg Glan Hafren.

Coleg Glan Harfren was formed in 1989 and was incorporated in 1993 under a Royal Charter. The college had two campuses and four sites and provided education primarily in the east-side of Cardiff.

Barry College had five main sites across Cardiff and the Vale and celebrated 50 years as a college in 2009.

After the 2011 merger CAVC is now one of the largest colleges in the country with 20,000 students studying in a range of campuses across Cardiff and the Vale.
