Boxing champ Lee Selby visits Cardiff and Vale College

IBF World featherweight champion Lee Selby visited Cardiff and Vale College this week to give an inspirational talk to the College’s Sport students.

Lee was joined by his trainer Tony Borg, brother Andrew Selby and coach Bill Reynolds, who is also a Construction lecturer at CAVC. After warming up, the Barry-born boxer demonstrated his sparring skills with Tony in the College’s state of the art gym at its City Centre Campus.

After a tour of the campus, Lee took part in a Q&A session with the College’s Rugby Academy team. He spoke about his training regime, the work ethic that motivates him and his readiness for world title showdown later this year with Carl Frampton.

“I’ve really enjoyed meeting the students today,” Lee said. “When I was in school you never had anyone come in to give inspirational talks or demonstrate their skills so giving something back to the students is great – it means the world to me.

“This new campus is a lovely premises with an excellent gym – it has all the facilities they need which is great for these rugby players.”
