Cardiff and Vale College introduces Dumballs Road 2 – a new facility
Cardiff and Vale College is set to expand to an exciting new site in the heart of Cardiff City Centre.
The new site on Dumballs Road, close to Cardiff Central Station, will offer a range of courses to an additional 300 16 to 18-year-olds in engineering, construction and the renewable energy industries, and some of the courses will be offered by the College for the first time. Called Dumballs Road 2, the refurbished building will be close at hand to the College’s Cardiff Construction Training Centre (CCTC), which is also on Dumballs Road.
CAVC Principal and Chief Executive Mike James said: “This development is the first real opportunity to show the region that we are a dynamic college that takes the opportunities available to us. While we continue to build departments and pursue a financial strategy to help us finance brand new sites befitting a College of our stature, this is positive news and allows us to expand.”
Dumballs Road 2 will open in September and offer courses in Plastering, Tiling, Green Energies, Painting & Decorating, Carpentry, Brickwork, Refrigeration, Heating & Ventilation and Electrical Installation. It will help the College meet its commitment to reflect local employers’ demands in the engineering, construction and renewable energies industries.
The Heating & Ventilation and Refrigeration courses may move from the College’s Trowbridge site to Dumballs Road, but there are no plans to move any other courses.
An Open Evening for anyone who is interested in
