Cardiff and Vale College secures government funding for its learner journey

Cardiff and Vale College has become the first further education institution to receive Invest to Save funding from the Welsh Government.

The College will receive £775,000 to enable it to take forward its Learner Journey project. Based on extensive consultation with staff and students, the project focuses on three areas of each learner’s journey:

  • Recruitment
  • Teaching and support and
  • Progression

CAVC started work on its Learner Journey project last year with the realignment of its student services activities. This new Welsh Government funding will allow the College to make further step changes in its systems and procedures, creating improved, joined-up online systems to address issues with existing manual processes that staff and students have identified.

CAVC Principal and Chief Executive Mike James said: “Given the financial restraints that both the Welsh Government and FE sector are working with at the moment this additional funding is most welcome as it will enable us to get started on these improvements in the summer.”
