CAVC's Sameer awarded for Outstanding Service to Cricket

Cardiff and Vale College Sport student Sameer Alyas has been awarded the Young Volunteer Award at the NatWest Outstanding Service to Cricket Awards.

The 22-year-old from Cardiff was recognised for his work as an ambassador for cricket among Black and Minority Ethnic (BME communities) in the Cricket Beyond Boundaries initiative.

The award’s judges said that Sameer was an outstanding young volunteer on the Cricket Beyond Boundaries project ensuring that cricket is thriving and accessible to the wider Cardiff community. Sameer has shown great commitment beyond his role of BME Cricket Ambassador and attends and contributes to the BME Cricket Forum.

Sameer also leads pop-up clubs in Riverside and Grangetown, and interacts with parents and community leaders in an engaging manner. He is studying towards an HND Sports Coaching academic qualification at CAVC, in partnership with Cardiff Metropolitan University.
