Cardiff and Vale College wins College of the Year at prestigious business awards

Cardiff and Vale College has been crowned College of the Year at the prestigious Insider Business and Education Partnership Awards.

The College also won a People Development Award for its work with Grwp Gwalia. Judges said the training for Grwp Gwalia’s staff that the College provides shows a “good linkage between objectives and strategy”.

CAVC’s Commercial Business Development team, Principal & Chief Executive Mike James and Chair of Governors Geraint Evans represented the College at the event, which brought together universities and colleges from across Wales alongside global businesses.

The College of the Year Award recognises the work Cardiff and Vale College puts in to foster long-term partnerships with its partners and employers such as Grwp Gwalia. The College engages with thousands of employers and other partners each year to ensure it offers the training and education that will suit their needs, filling skill gaps and producing more employable students.

The Insider judges noted that CAVC has expanded its commercial team, gained business revenue and a opened a “stunning” new City Centre Campus while working with nearly 2,000 employers in 2015.

CAVC’s ambitious capital development plan to transform education and training in the Capital Region includes the £45m new City Centre Campus that impressed the judges. This landmark building contains a dedicated Business Centre, enabling the College to nurture additional collaboration with industry in an inspirational environment.
