Hair industry professionals bring colour to Cardiff and Vale College

Hair & Beauty students at Cardiff and Vale College have taken part in a workshop with industry professionals to enhance their learning experience.

Hairdressing staff and students joined hair professionals from international hair product company Goldwell to discuss opportunities for training and experience.

The workshop at the College’s Barry-based salon the Academi also involved practical hands-on training including cutting-edge demonstrations, top tips and advice to students on how to develop their entrepreneurial skills.

CAVC Head of Beauty, Hair & Complementary Therapies Ceri Evans said: “This event was a chance for the College to participate in a fantastic training event and for students to build their entrepreneurial skills. Our students really benefit from the experience and insight gained through strong industry partnerships, while the industry itself also benefits from the training and skills we provide for the professionals of the future.”

Sarah Lawrence, a Colour Technician with the Goldwell Wales and West Team, added: “It’s definitely important that students get an overview of the latest developments in the industry and in colouring. We can pass on our expertise and knowledge.

“This visit is a brilliant opportunity for the students to take part in the Level 1 and 2 Master Colourist Programme for continuous growth and development. It’s something that would normally cost a lot of money.”
