Secret House opens at Cardiff and Vale College
Students on Preparation for Work and Life Skills courses at Cardiff and Vale College have organised a special opening party for their newly refreshed learning space which they have called ‘Ty Cudd’, or, ‘The Secret House’.
Students on the Skills for Progression course will now be based at Ty Cudd, which was once a caretaker’s bungalow on the College’s Colcot Road site in Barry. The Skills for Progression course aims to help develop personal and social skills alongside providing a groudning for transition to Level 1 vocational study for learners who require more support.
A series of improvements have been carried out on the building, including a kitchen refit where students have catering lessons, the creation of a classroom with computers, a common room and a quiet room. The bungalow’s garden has also been given an makeover.
To mark the completion of work, the students organised a party where parents, guardians or carers were invited to Ty Cudd for guided tours and refreshments.
Event Manager, student Tristan Perratt said: “It’s been a fun day. There was not much here before; we only had one computer. It’s much better now.”
