Thousands of students welcomed at Cardiff and Vale College Freshers' Fayre

Some four thousand new students have been welcomed to their first year at Cardiff and Vale College during Freshers’ Week at its Barry and new City Centre Campus sites.

The students were introduced to the various services and support that CAVC has to offer, as well as a range of exciting activities including a Boulders climbing wall and DJ truck. Stands also gave out vouchers for local shops and venues, and the College’s Hair Beauty & Holistic Therapy team performed live hairdressing demos.

Casey Dixon, a 17-year-old Hospitality & Catering student from Barry, said of the Freshers’ Fayre at the College’s £45m new City Centre Campus: “I loved looking around the new building and seeing all the facilities.”

Photography student Miri Hughes, 16, added: “Freshers’ Fayre has been amazing, I love the new building.”

Seventeen-year-old student Kieran Smith, who is studying Painting & Decorating at the Barry campus, said: “I wasn’t expecting this many stalls, Freshers’ has been brilliant.”

Majula Kassama, 20, who is studying Aircraft Engineering at the College’s International Centre for Aerospace Training at Cardiff Airport, added: “Freshers’ makes you feel really welcome at the College, it’s been really good.”
