Training company JTL presents surprise gift to CAVC apprentices
Apprentice electricians working towards their apprenticeships have been given a surprise gift during their weekly day release attendance at Cardiff and Vale College.
Their training provider, JTL Training, presented the apprentices with a free set of tool worth more than £100. The tools have been specially chosen to help the trainee electricians and have been provided through a partnership between JTL and British tool manufacturer Monument Tools.
The tool kits were handed out by JTL Regional Manager for Wales, Martin Laye, and CAVC Electrical Installation Tutor Jon Bowen. The College is the leading college for JTL apprentices in Wales, with 90 students attending their day release at CAVC every year.
“Employers have said to us that it would be great if apprentices turn up on their very first day with the skills and equipment required,” Martin explained. “Having a brand new set of tools can make a real difference – getting the right kit can be very expensive so JTL decided that we could help give our young people a great start.”
One of the lucky recipients of the free tools was Kaeleigh Beddoe. The electrical apprentice from Penarth said: “These tools are going to be really useful – I do have some tools already but you can go through tools quite quickly if they’re not top quality like these. I’ve always wanted to be an electrician and having looked into it I found that an apprenticeship was the best way to go about becoming an electrician. These tools will be a real help.”
