Skills For Progression in College Entry LevelBarry

This course offers young people a gentle introduction to college life and further education.  The course is designed to improve confidence, encourage personal development and help learners to strengthen the skills required for learning and life.  Following a holistic curriculum that appeals to all learning styles, lessons will focus on topics such as building resilience, building self-esteem and the development of essential skills including Communication, Numeracy and ICT.  Learners will also be given the opportunity to gain experience in numerous vocational areas across the college, for example Engineering, Sport, Catering and Construction. This course will take place at the Barry Campus.

Skills for Progression in College Entry LevelEast Cardiff

This course will take place at Eastern High.

 

Throughout the course learners will be encouraged to take ownership of their own learning pathway. They will engage in activities to promote team, reflective, independent and creative learning skills, forming a base of valuable, transferable skills that can be adopted throughout learning, work and life. 

 

A high level of support is available to the learners on this course, both inside and outside of the classroom.  The calm learning environment and structured, person-centered delivery of this course would suit learners with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Towards Independence Entry LevelCardiff

These courses offer learners at Pre-entry and Entry levels an identified pathway in either Life Skills or Work Skills. All learners typically have had a Statement of Educational Needs or IDP or EHCP.

All learners in this strand would have worked with the College Transition and Review officer to identify their long-term aim. An Initial Assessment of the full range of learner’s needs will be undertaken during the induction process to identify suitable targets and identified a route for progression.
