ESOL + Barbering Level 1One Canal Parade

The Barbering unit of the course will help you to develop the creative skill of using barbering techniques to create an image based on a theme. You will research media images, plan and develop your ideas to create a mood board which you will then present to others. You will then re-create the image you have developed using technical hair and beauty skills. You will base your image on a theme and present your image to an invited audience. Some of these sessions will take place in the College’s fully resourced hair & beauty salons so students will become familiar with working within these environments. This course forms the basis of the knowledge required for progression onto a level 2. There will be 3.5 hours in the salon; 9.5 hours of ESOL and 3 hours of Numeracy.

Students who enrol on these courses need to be fully committed as we expect an attendance rate of 100%. Students whose attendance drops below 90% will be at risk of losing their places.

The course will prepare learners for nationally recognised qualifications in both ESOL and Hair & Beauty.  Students will also do Numeracy as part of the programme and this will also lead to a recognised qualification.
