Plumbing, Heating and Ventilation

Our well respected courses and Apprenticeship programmes train you to become a skilled and qualified Plumber or specialist Engineer working with Gas, Heating and Ventilation, Refrigeration or Air Conditioning. You will learn in our large trade-specific facilities. These include classrooms for theory and large industry standard workshops where you will develop your practical skills each week. CAVC also offers work placements to students each year, as well as the chance to take part in national skills competitions – all helping you stand out from the crowd and gain employment.

Most of those completing a course or Apprenticeships progress into employment. This includes jobs with large building services and engineering companies as well as smaller trade companies. Some also go on to start their own successful businesses.

Currently there are over 153,900 people employed in the sector across the UK. Over half of the total workforce in Wales are employed in South East Wales (EMSI, 2016).

#YourCAVC

We offer courses unique to us in the region. We are the only provider in Wales offering the City and Guilds Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. We are also the only provider in South East Wales offering the Level 3 Diplomas in Domestic Plumbing and Heating.

Course options

16-18 year olds

We offer a number of full-time courses in plumbing at levels 1 and 2. You could also opt for an Apprenticeship in Heating and Ventilation and earn while you learn.

We run Heating and Ventilation Apprenticeships at a range of Levels depending on your experience. With an Apprenticeship you spend part of your time developing your skills in the fantastic workshops in College and the rest of your time in the workplace putting these into practice. 

 

Adults

We run Heating and Ventilation Apprenticeships at a range of Levels depending on your experience. With an Apprenticeship you spend part of your time developing your skills in the fantastic workshops in College and the rest of your time in the workplace putting these into practice. 

If you’re already working in the industry and looking to gain industry-recognised  and essential qualifications we offer courses such as F Gas and ODS Regulations - City & Guilds 2709-11 and Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems - BPEC which is the mandatory requirement for plumbers and heating engineers who are looking to install, service or maintain Unvented Hot Water Systems of over 15 litres capacity, within the UK.
