Apprenticeships
What is an Apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships combine on-the-job skills development and off-the-job learning to provide new and existing employees with the practical skills and qualifications to help meet business needs now and in the future.
Apprentices form part of your workforce, earning a wage and working alongside existing staff to gain valuable and specific industry skills tailored to your business as well as receiving external training from CAVC resulting in a nationally recognised qualification.
Whatever industry or route the apprenticeship takes, there are three core elements:
A NATIONAL VOCATIONAL QUALIFICATION (NVQ)
This is the competency based element of the Apprenticeship and is tailored to fit the business needs through selection of appropriate modules.
A KNOWLEDGE-BASED QUALIFICATION (VOCATIONAL RELATED QUALIFICATION/ TECHNICAL CERT)
This is an exam usually online, that tests your knowledge in your specific subject.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS WALES
An additional, standalone qualification to enhance transferable skills across communications, application of number, and ICT
