Progression Bursary

This bursary is designed to help with the costs of equipment associated with studying to the value of £300. You may be eligible if you are designated a UK/Home* student or are a EU national and are studying on a full-time or part-time, undergraduate, higher education course having progressed directly from a level 3 course at Cardiff & Vale College. This will only be awarded in the first year of study. Students sponsored by an employer are not eligible.

Access Bursary

For all care leavers to the value of £300 per full-time year** of the course. The bursary is available to UK/Home* students or EU nationals, both full and part-time, starting an undergraduate, higher education course in 2018-19. There are a limited number available, therefore bursaries will be granted on a first come first serve basis.

Full details of the student's support worker must be supplied and there are strict eligibility criteria that must be met to receive this support:

  • A student who has been in care since the age of 14 must have been in care for no less than 6 months.
  • A student who has been in care from the age of 16 must have been in care for no less than 3 months.
  • A student who has been irreconcilably estranged from parents or guardians between the age of 16 and leaving school or FE College.
  • Students must be under the age of 25.

Communities First Bursary

The Communities First bursary is designed to help with the day to day costs of studying at college. The package provides financial help toward accommodation, travel, food, books and photocopying, and is £300 per full-time year** of the course. You may be eligible if you are designated a UK/Home* student or are a EU national and are studying on a full-time or part-time, undergraduate, higher education course. Only students who will be starting at CAVC in September 2018 and who live in a designated Welsh Communities First postcode can apply.

 

Students will only be able to apply for one bursary in the first year and cannot apply for a different bursary in the subsequent years of study. All bursaries will be paid in term 2 depending on 60% course attendance. Confirmation of payment of tuition fees must also have been received by the college. 

Students repeating a year will be ineligible for a bursary in that academic year.

**£300 will be paid for full-time study. Part-time student bursaries will be paid pro-rata this amount.
