Throughout the course you will study a range of topics relating to criminal behaviour, offender profiling and forensic and criminal psychology.
The course begins by looking at the definitions of criminal behaviour and approaches to understanding and solving crime. It then explores the use of psychological theories in the detection of crime. Students will compare the use of behavioural profiling between the USA and the UK and examine and analyse the use of forensic psychology. Serious crime, e.g. murder and theories of criminal psychology will be considered and the unit draws to a close by investigating the myths and realities relating to serial killers.
