About this course

The Digital Skills for Business programme has been developed to give learners the knowledge and essential skills needed to succeed in the digital employment sector.

Delivered by Tramshed Tech and the Big Learning Company, this course covers a diverse range of modules to provide you with the tools needed to understand the fundamentals of this sector. Skills such as Project Management and Digital Processes will also be explored to help you understand how this Digital knowledge can be implemented in the workplace. Alongside this, you will have the opportunity to attend workshops in employability, interviewing skills and networking to encourage employment or promotion after successful completion of the programme. 

Delivery Schedule:

This is a part-time course and will be delivered every Tuesday and Thursday evening (6:00pm – 9:00pm) and then every other Saturday (9:00am – 12:00pmin Thales, Ebbw Vale. This Bootcamp will run over 7 weeks. A list of dates is available here

What you will study

This bootcamp has been designed to offer both the theory behind digital technologies and how they are practically applied within the workplace. The following modules will be covered:

  • AI in the Modern World: Understanding AI and Machine Learning; Building a Machine Learning Model; Implications of AI; Using ChatGPT

  • Digital Processes: Fundamentals of Project Management; Process Design Automation & Workflow Management; Implementing Digital Processes; Digital Communication & Collaboration; Online Presentations; Project Closure & Review

  • Social Media & Marketing: Basics of Digital Marketing; Effective Marketing; Digital Marketing Strategy; Engaging, Educating or Inspiring your Audience; Utilising Analytics

  • Creating Engaging Digital Content: Principles of Design; Visual Communication; Understanding your Audience; Understanding UX; Creating a User Journey

  • Introduction to Cyber Security: The Ins & Outs of Cyber Security; How to Spot Cyber Attacks; Securing your Network; Best Practices

  • Tools for Data Collection & Visualisation: GDPR; Processing Personal Data; Lawful Data Collection; Data Presentation; Processing with Microsoft Excel; Data Visualisation; Data Interpretation with AI

These modules will be taught alongside workshops in project management and networking, with frequent skills clinics and peer reviews. In addition to this, you will have access to guest speakers from the industry as well as one-on-one mentoring sessions to provide employability guidance. 

Face to face classroom training. There is no formal assessment or exam.

The Digital Bootcamp has been designed to address the specific demands of the Welsh job market. Learners will acquire both essential digital skills, but also a competitive edge through skills training. This means learners will leave the Bootcamp with a theoretical knowledge as well as practical and locally relevant skills.
